Why Kelly Clarkson's Talk Show May Be Nearing Its Final Season

Kelly Clarkson’s future in daytime television is suddenly under intense scrutiny as fresh reports suggest her long-running talk show may be approaching its final chapter.
Behind the scenes, sources point to exhaustion, shifting network priorities, and deeply personal challenges that have reshaped Clarkson’s life in recent years.
While nothing has been formally announced, mounting industry buzz and Clarkson’s own recent struggles are fueling speculation that “The Kelly Clarkson Show” may soon sign off.
Kelly Clarkson’s Talk Show Faces Uncertain Future At NBC

Multiple sources told Page Six that Kelly Clarkson is expected to step away from her daytime talk show after the current season wraps.
One insider described her potential departure as “definite,” while another said it is “likely that it will not go on.”
According to the source, the demands of the show have become increasingly difficult to sustain, explaining that “Her show is a lot to put on, and looking at the landscape across daytime television, it’s not sustainable anymore.”
The uncertainty has been circulating inside NBC for some time. Rumors previously suggested that former Today anchor Hoda Kotb could replace Clarkson following her abrupt exit from NBC’s morning program.
While insiders acknowledged there is “ongoing buzz around the halls of 30 Rock,” another source cautioned that “People are jumping the gun. Nothing is definite yet, and it’s still a long season.”
Clarkson Reportedly Felt Overwhelmed By Daytime Demands

Concerns about Kelly Clarkson’s workload surfaced publicly last year, when reports revealed she was contemplating leaving daytime television altogether.
Network executives were reportedly eager to keep her, amid claims she felt “overwhelmed” by the responsibilities tied to hosting her eponymous show.
An insider revealed that the 43-year-old had grown worn down after six years of maintaining the grueling daytime schedule and was open to walking away entirely.
The pressure of daily tapings, promotional obligations, and constant visibility reportedly took a toll, especially as Clarkson navigated mounting personal stress behind the scenes.
Kelly Clarkson’s Personal Loss Changed Everything

Last year proved especially painful for Clarkson following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at age 48 in August 2025 after a private battle with melanoma.
During his illness, the singer was notably absent from several episodes of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in February and March.
A day before Blackstock’s death was announced, Clarkson postponed the remaining dates of her Las Vegas residency.
As The Blast reported, the songstress released a statement on Instagram, explaining, “This past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
The following day, a family representative confirmed Blackstock’s passing, stating, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.”
Clarkson and Blackstock, who were married from 2013 to 2022, share 11-year-old daughter River and nine-year-old son Remington.
Clarkson Opens Up About Parenting Through Grief

In the months since Blackstock’s death, Kelly Clarkson has offered rare insight into how she is supporting her children through loss.
During a recent Q+A, a fan asked, “What is the one thing you do every day that brings you joy?” Clarkson replied, “Snuggle. My kids, they’re nine and eleven. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds. They’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.”
She added, “There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit.”
Clarkson previously addressed similar themes in a 2023 appearance on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast, where she described checking in with her children nightly and encouraging emotional honesty.
“I literally ask my kids every night when we’re snuggling up in the bed, ‘Are you happy?’” she said, explaining that her children openly expressed sadness about their parents not living together.
Kelly Clarkson’s Past Struggles Still Loom Over Her Present

During the chat, Clarkson also talked about the emotional weight of family upheaval.
Reflecting on her divorce, she explained, “I get it. I’m from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. But we’re going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us.”
Beyond emotional strain, the TV personality and Blackstock’s relationship also ended with legal conflict.
She sued her former husband after their divorce, accusing him of making unauthorized business deals on her behalf. The lawsuit over commissions was settled in May 2024.
Now, as questions swirl about the future of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” sources suggest Clarkson’s priorities have shifted.
Between years of relentless work, personal grief, and her commitment to her children, the possibility of stepping away from daytime television no longer feels surprising but inevitable.
