We Found the "Heated Rivalry" Underwear Worn by Shane and Ilya - and It's $15

Some of the steamiest scenes between Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) in "Heated Rivalry" involve a pair of Uniqlo Airism Boxer Briefs ($15), but you probably didn't notice. I don't blame you; it's easy to be distracted by the heart-piercing tension between the world-famous hockey players and/or their striking good looks.

As work meetings so often do since the HBO show's release, mine took a turn for the better yesterday when we started discussing the underwear used on the show (one of my coworkers had been thinking about it since the first episode). It's easy to understand why, since the actors - including my personal favorite couple Scott Hunter (François Arnaud) and Kip Grady (Robbie Graham-Kuntz) - are stripped down in several scenes. The briefs they're wearing are seamless, unbranded, and the perfect foundation for a well-defined set of abs. The Uniqlo team confirmed to Popsugar that costume designer Hanna Puley did, in fact, use the brand's Airism underwear on the show. From the Uniqlo Airism Boxer Briefs ($15) to the Uniqlo Airism Ultra Seamless Boxer Briefs ($15), the simple, snug-fit underwear crafted from nylon and spandex certainly got the job done.

I plan to snag a couple of pairs myself, since I like to sleep in briefs, and I'll be double-tapping fan edits like the one below feeling a lot more satisfied after completing this crucial research. Perhaps I'll even rewatch all six episodes for the 42nd time to see how many Uniqlo briefs I can spot. When it comes to the rest of the "Heated Rivalry" wardrobe, Puley's team either created from scratch, shopped vintage, or pulled from high-end luxury labels like Diesel, Miu Miu, Y-3, and Rick Owens, so it's nice to see a more affordable retailer come into play.
