Randeep Hooda is once again proving that his heart is as strong offscreen as his roles are onscreen. The actor travelled to Assam’s Sivasagar on Saturday to join a flood relief distribution programme, stepping up for a state that has been battling one of its worst flood crises this year.
Hooda partnered with the NGO Global Sikhs for the initiative, an organisation he has worked closely with for years. Together, they distributed ration kits packed with essential household items, including food supplies, mattresses, tarpaulins and basic toiletries, to families displaced by the floods. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the floods have already claimed 82 lives, making relief efforts more critical than ever.
The actor also visited the Sivasagar railway station, where several affected families had taken shelter after fleeing the flooded areas, and personally served food through a langar set up for them. Speaking about the ground realities, Hooda explained that his team had done extensive research to understand exactly what displaced families need most urgently, and that volunteers are actively searching for people who haven’t yet received aid.
He didn’t stop there. Hooda also paid a visit to the Gurudwara Sahib in Sivasagar, where he offered prayers for the wellbeing of everyone affected by the disaster. Talking about his long association with the cause, the actor shared that he has been working with the same Global Sikhs team for several years, praising the sheer scale and dedication of their groundwork.
Hooda joins a growing list of celebrities who have stepped forward for Assam, including Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ayushmann Khurrana and Adil Hussain, all of whom have raised awareness or contributed to relief efforts.
