Mulaney has announced that his comedy show, scheduled to take place in Minneapolis this weekend, has been postponed. This comes after the internet raved with the breaking news of a deadly shooting by an ICE officer on Wednesday.

The show was scheduled to take place at the Armory, but the comedian feels that it is unfair to host a comedy show in a town that is going through so much grief. He also expressed that the recent happenings have been heartbreaking for him.

Mulaney made this announcement in a statement he posted on X, where he also acknowledged that some fans may find his decision disappointing. Not because they supported what is ongoing, but it is likely they felt a comedy show could be a nice distraction and escape from reality.

Weighing both sides of the coin, he ultimately decided that it still wasn't safe. He ended his statement writing, "It doesn't sit right with me to put anyone at risk".

In the same statement, Mulaney addressed the rescheduling of his show, tickets, and payments. He wrote that the tickets could be used at later dates in April, from the 10th to the 12th, and that refunds would also be made.

The comment section had mixed responses. A user mockingly wrote, "Looks like tickets for someone's April shows were not selling." Another added that his ticket sales were low and he was using the situation as a cover to avoid embarrassment.

A handful of comments were calling out the comedian on the issue of safety, claiming that there was no reason a show at the Armory would be unsafe or put people at risk.

Others thanked Mulaney for his consideration and decision, writing how thoughtful he was. At the same time, a lot of derogatory terms were used, calling him a "crazy white boy," "coward," "little p-ssy," "softc-ck," amongst others.

On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, a woman later identified as Renee Good was shot in her vehicle by an ICE agent. A clip of the incident has gone viral, showing the tragic death and the witness account of the 37-year-old.

The Blast covered the extent to which this Fatal shooting has affected the community members and the world at large. Social media users and celebrities expressed their feelings about the death of a citizen and the existence of the agency.

Simu Liu, who starred in "The Copenhagen Test," wrote that he was "beyond appalled at the murderous actions of ICE agents in Minneapolis." Cynthia Nixon shared the video clip of the event, writing, "Abolish ICE!!! And arrest that ICE agent and charge him with murder."

Amanda Seyfried also made her stance known by resharing a video of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey telling the ICE agents to "get the f-ck out of Minneapolis" on her Instagram Stories.

Previous ICE Protests Fell On The President's Deaf Ears

Last year, Los Angeles protesters took to the streets to cry out against the ICE raids, which they termed to be an injustice, believing that President Donald Trump would change his mind.

Instead of heeding their pleas, Trump ordered trained soldiers from the U.S. Marines to suppress protesters. The Blast reported that the POTUS referred to the protesters as "insurrectionists." An interesting choice of words, potentially allowing him to invoke the Insurrection Act.

The Insurrection Act allows the president to use the Marines to do his bidding, even if that entails harmful clashes with unarmed citizens.

Dean Cain And John Mulaney Are Apparently On Opposite Sides Of The ICE Issue

Unlike Mulaney, who stepped away from the ICE drama, Cain went all in. The former actor decided to join the agency, stating that America needs more people willing to do the right thing.

Cain claimed that joining the agency was his way of helping to protect the country, and he was willing to do whatever it took. As reported by The Blast, Cain believes that some measures have to be put into place, as not everyone can be welcome into the United States.
