Jennifer Lawrence Slammed For Saying She Wanted To 'Obliterate' Dogs After Former Pet Bit Her Child: 'Terrible'

Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up about the reason she decided to re-home her family dog after a biting incident involving her young child.
Unfortunately, the Hollywood star garnered the ire of many dog lovers as she joked that the incident made her want to "obliterate every dog ever."
It comes after Jennifer Lawrence dressed to kill as she attended the screening of her new film "Die My Love," following her shock SAG Actor Awards snub.
Jennifer Lawrence Had To Re-Home Her Dog Following A Biting Incident

Lawrence might not be the biggest fan of dogs at the moment after her pet Chihuahua, named Princess Pippi Longstocking, bit her 3-year-old son, Cy, whom she shares with husband Cooke Maroney.
At the screening of her new film "Die My Love" in New York on Wednesday, the Oscar winner attended a Q&A session where she was asked if she was more into dogs or cats.
The "Hunger Games" actress then explained that "dogs became so scary" to her after she began parenting Cy and another baby she welcomed with Maroney in 2024, following the sad incident.
According to Lawrence, she now sees dogs as a "threat," adding that she eventually had to re-home her pet at her parents' house.
"She's alive, she's with my parents," the actress said of her dog. "She did not like New York. I lived on 1st and 67th just to be near the park for her. After I had a kid, dogs became so scary."

The biting incident seems to have taken an emotional toll on her, as she went further to share that it made her want to "obliterate every dog ever."
"My son's going up to it, and it's almost like I don't recognize dogs right now," she shared. "I just see them as a threat. One of them bit my son, and that just made me want to obliterate every dog ever."
"I'm just like, 'I'm gonna take out you and your f-cking family. You and your friends. I'm gonna go to China and take care of your friends over there. Anyone who looks like you is dead,'" she continued.
In fact, she's now more into cats and is the parent to one named Fred.
"They're so misunderstood," she said about cats. "They are a-holes, and people who don't like that about cats aren't getting that that is what is so funny."
Jennifer Lawrence Sparks Backlash Over Her Comments About Dogs

Lawrence's comments seemingly triggered many dog lovers, who took to social media to slam her.
"What a terrible person! She doesn't deserve a dog!" one person wrote.
Another social media user defended the furry pets, saying, "Dogs are not a danger to kids unless you haven't trained the dog properly or teach the kids respect for the dog as well."
"This is terrible," one person said. "A dog is a living being with feelings. Don't get dogs if you plan to give them up. Don't leave the child alone with the dog. This makes me see her in a bad light."
"This has made me lose any respect for her," another added. "If she had trained her dogs and kept them away from her son and her son away from them, then there would not be an issue. If you were not willing to care for your dogs for life, you should never have got them."
The Actress Received Some Support Amid The Backlash

Amid the backlash, some fans defended Lawrence, with one saying, "Being a cautious mom is not a bad thing. Nothing that could endanger my child is welcome in my home."
Another commented, "Some of these comments are not it! I don't understand why so many people put dogs above children. I'm a mom of 2, and we have a small dog, and we LOVE our dog. But as soon as I had my firstborn, I immediately had this instinct, it was very weird, and I had to really work to regulate it."
The fan continued, "But at the end of the day, even though I looooove my dog, I would choose my child every day above him."
"The dog-obsessed people in the comments are scary. I would definitely choose my own child over a dog …. Especially if they bite one of them. Protect your children !!!" a third person noted.
Jennifer Lawrence Reacts To SAG Actor Awards Snub

For the red carpet of the screening of her new film, Lawrence turned heads as she coordinated in a sleek all black ensemble featuring a sleeveless halter top and black pointed heels.
The dark psychological drama, which stars Robert Pattinson, Sissy Spacek, LaKeith Stanfield, and Nick Nolte, sees Lawrence play the role of a woman who has a troubled relationship with her husband (Pattinson).
Their relationship was all the more challenged after the birth of their first child, as she's been overtaken by postpartum depression and struggled with bouts of psychosis.
The movie has already garnered praise from many quarters for her performance in it; however, she was surprisingly snubbed from the SAG Actor Awards on Wednesday.
Lawrence opened up on how she reacted to the snub, joking that she sent a "sad face" emoji to Emma Stone after SAG nominated "Bugonia" but not "Die My Love."
"We're in a group chat, and she got nominated for a SAG today, and I did not," she said, per Variety. "I wrote 'WHAT!' and all her friends were like 'Congratulations Emma,' and I just do a sad face. Every time she tries to talk today, I'm like, 'Why are you not saying sorry?' She's been beating me for decades, but it's an honor."
