Dax Shepard Insists 'I Won Tonight' After Golden Globes Loss

Dax Shepard didn't take home the first Best Podcast Golden Globe award; however, he doesn't feel like a loser.
The actor-turned-podcast-host shared his reaction to his Golden Globes loss in a since-deleted social media post, revealing why he was saddened by the results yet ultimately felt like a winner.
Dax Shepard was nominated for the first-ever best podcast category at the 2026 Golden Globes for his "Armchair Expert" show. However, he and other nominees lost the award to Amy Poehler for her "Good Hang" podcast.
How Dax Shepard Reacted To His Golden Globes Loss

Following the Golden Globes ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 11, Shepard took to his Instagram page to share his feelings after losing the best podcast trophy.
In the since-deleted post, the media personality shared a screenshot of his conversation with one of his two daughters, who had contacted him ahead of the ceremony. The young girl texted her father to hype him up before the event, raving about his dashing looks.
"You look so handsome dada. Your suit is stunning," Shepard's daughter gushed, per The Daily Mail. In response, the doting father shared the primary reason he was displeased with his Golden Globes loss, writing:
"You, know, the ONLY reason I'm sad I didn't win is because I wanted to stand on that stage and tell the whole world how much I love you and your sister."
The Podcaster Believes He Gained Far More Than He Lost

Shepard echoed similar sentiments in the post's caption, assuring fans that he was unbothered by not making history as the first person to win the best podcast Golden Globe award. "I won tonight. And every night," he wrote.
Besides being a proud father, Shepard never fails to showcase his love for his longtime partner, actress Kristen Bell. The couple attended the Golden Globes as a team, enjoying a double-nominee date night while rocking Giorgio Armani ensembles.
Like her husband, Bell did not emerge victorious in the category she was nominated for. She had been contending for the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series Award thanks to her performance in "Nobody Wants This," but lost to "Hacks" star Jean Smart.
Kristen Bell Was Rooting For Her Husband And Best Pal

Before Bell and Shepard lost their respective categories at the Golden Globes, the couple had been all smiles during their red carpet appearance. Bell even stopped for an interview with E! News, where she revealed she was rooting for two people.
"I'm a hype man. My husband and my best friend were nominated for the first-ever podcast category," Bell gushed. She claimed she would lose her mind when their category came up during the award ceremony; however, she didn't mind them losing.
"Even if they don't win because I'm so proud of them," Bell declared, doubling down on her commitment to supporting her husband and best pal rather than herself. "I'm not even thinking about me," she added. The couple's double loss at the awards show came days after Shepard's shocking podcast revelation.
The Media Personality Discussed Motherhood With His Youngest Daughter

During a January episode of his podcast, Shepard revealed that he had discussed motherhood with his youngest daughter, Delta. He claimed the pre-teen had told him she couldn't wait to have a child, a declaration that didn't come as a surprise.
According to Shepard, his youngest has always displayed a nurturing trait as she cared deeply for her stuffed animals and would bring them on family vacations. Since he knew Delta loved kids, the actor didn't avoid the conversation.
Shepard explained that he asked Delta how old she had envisioned herself having children, assuring her that he wouldn't judge if she wished to begin as early as 18. Surprisingly, the young girl believed that somewhere between her mid-30s and mid-40s was perfect.
Dax Shepard Feared He Would Never Find Love Again After His Ex

Following Delta's statement, Shepard stated that he offered to freeze her eggs when she turned 18 to avoid potential pressures in the future. He admitted that his offer to pay for the egg freezing procedure stemmed from privilege, as it wasn't an option for most people.
Nonetheless, Shepard was willing to do his best to aid his daughter. He welcomed two daughters during his marriage to Bell, blessings he never expected would come his way after a bad breakup. As reported by The Blast, the podcast host was in a nine-year relationship with Briegh Morrison before meeting Bell.
Shepard confessed during an October 2025 episode of his "Mom's Car" YouTube series that he feared he would never love someone as much as he loved Morrison after their breakup. He explained that they parted ways amicably, but he was "very disoriented" after they parted ways.
