Trump Attacks ‘60 Minutes’ and Paramount Over MTG Interview Minutes After Hostile Takeover Announced

President Donald Trump on Monday slammed Paramount and CBS News’ “60 Minutes” over an interview with his latest enemy, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — moments after Paramount launched its latest bid for Warner Bros. Discovery for a deal that will need his administration’s approval.

Trump, using his perjorative “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown” nickname for Greene, said the congresswoman was poorly prepared in her interview with “washed up, Trump hating, 60 Minutes ‘correspondent’” Lesley Stahl, which aired Sunday. He also said the network should never have broadcast the conversation.

“My real problem with the show, however, wasn’t the low IQ traitor, it was that the new ownership of 60 Minutes, Paramount, would allow a show like this to air,” Trump wrote. “THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN THE OLD OWNERSHIP, who just paid me millions of Dollars for FAKE REPORTING about your favorite President, ME!”

The outburst followed Paramount’s hostile bid to purchase all of WBD at $30 a share, one it claimed it had a better chance of getting through regulatory hurdles than Netflix’s $82.7 billion purchase of WBD’s studio and streaming businesses.

Trump has maintained a longer and friendlier relationship with Paramount CEO David Ellison and his father, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, compared to his burgeoning friendship with Netflix’s Ted Sarandos. But Monday’s Truth Social post suggests the Ellisons may not entirely escape Trump’s wrath.

CBS News and Paramount did not respond to immediate requests for comment.

Trump told reporters on Sunday he’d “be involved” in the government’s consideration of Netflix’s Warner Bros. purchase.

In his Monday screed, Trump also demanded Stahl apologize to him over her line of questioning in a 2020 interview about Hunter Biden’s laptop and suggested “60 Minutes” “has actually gotten WORSE” than under Paramount’s prior ownership.

Trump appeared on the show in November for a 90-minute interview with correspondent Norah O’Donnell, where he praised Paramount’s new ownership as “one of the best things to happen” to the show.

“I think it’s the greatest thing that’s happened in a long time to a free and open and good press,” he said, according to the episode’s transcript.
