8-episode drama Ripple has garnered a heap of praise after landing on Netflix. Set in New York City, the series follows a group of strangers who’re brought together by small, seemingly insignificant and innocuous decisions. Fans are desperate for another season. What’s the current status of Ripple Season 2?

The last show Netflix exclusively licensed from Lionsgate Television was The Hunting Wives, a series that went on to become one of the standout performers on the streamer. It even ranked highly on Google’s most-searched list for 2025. It has since been renewed for another season, with new details beginning to spill. In the case of Ripple, the show was originally being developed at Netflix. “I actually first sold the show in 2018 to Netflix,” creator Michele Giannusa told us. “We were developing it there. And then COVID happened… and the industry shut down.” It was later shipped to Hallmark+ before ultimately finding a home back at Netflix.

Ripple season 1 dropped on Netflix on December 3. Starring Frankie Faison, Julia Chan, Ian Harding, and Sydney Agudong, Ripple takes place in New York City, exploring how seemingly small decisions can bring people together in unexpected and wonderful ways. The series follows four strangers — Walter, Kris, Nate, and Aria — who are each struggling with their own lives, from health issues to career struggles to loss. Each of them is brought together by small, chance moments that cause ripple effects.

Ripple has been described as the perfect series for fans of A Million Little Things and This Is Us

Has ‘Ripple’ been renewed for Season 2?

Netflix has not yet renewed Ripple for another season. The show has had a solid debut on Netflix, garnering stellar reviews from fans and climbing to the top 10 on the streamer, although it missed out on the global charts in its first week. That shouldn’t be overly surprising, given the promotion was mostly done from the side of Lionsgate Television rather than Netflix itself.

The show has featured in the daily top 10 charts in nine countries thus far and is slowly building over time. Whether it’ll see an explosion to justify a season 2 pickup is another story.

What to expect from ‘Ripple’ Season 2

The ending of Ripple season 1 left the door open for another season. Our four main characters found themselves embarking on their new journeys, full of hope.

Nate was about to join the clinical trial for his cancer treatment; Walter found new meaning in becoming co-owner of Lumi with Nate; Aria was on the precipice of stardom, embarking on a music tour; and Kris was building a business of her own. Fans are particularly interested in seeing how the relationship between Nate and Kris develops. Of course, in the finale, Nate penned a letter to Kris saying: “Maybe our journey is only just beginning.”

Ripple creator Michele Giannusa has plans for 5 seasons and already knows the ending.

In our interview with the show’s creator, Michele Giannusa, she revealed that there is absolutely more story to tell. In fact, she hopes to cover the entire story over 5-seasons, and already has the final scene in mind. “When the show started in development, I had five seasons in my pocket,” she said. “I’ve always had five seasons in my pocket. I won’t tell you, but I know exactly what the very last shot of the last episode looks like.”

“I really, really hope we can keep telling these stories,” she added, rhapsodising about the number of ideas she’s got written down (although not revealing any details). “There are so many more stories. I mean, you should just see my notes. So many more stories that I can’t wait to tell. And also, just the fact that with our writer’s room alone, I mean, they come in with their own stories. And so we’re all excited to keep telling this. So the answer is yes, we have many more stories to tell, and I hope we get to keep telling them.”
