Olivia Colman & John Lithgow Co-Star in 'Jimpa' Official US Trailer
"I was thinking Francis needs to get out of Adelaide before it suffocates." Kino Lorber has debuted the full official US trailer for an indie film titled Jimpa, a tender and heartfelt story of LGBTQ life from Australian filmmaker Sophie Hyde. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival one year ago to rather mixed reviews even though I'm a fan of it (and also quoted in here). It's the latest film from Sophie Hyde (following Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and will be releasing in the US this February. Hannah and her non-binary teenager Frances visits her gay grandfather Jimpa living in Amsterdam. Frances expresses a desire to stay with their grandfather for a year, challenging Hannah's parenting beliefs and forcing her to confront past issues. Starring John Lithgow as Jimpa, Olivia Colman as Hannah, Aud Mason-Hyde as Frances, with Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Kate Box, and Daniel Henshall.
