The University Of Pennsylvania Alumni's Defense Team Made Their Demands

So far, the case has taken an exciting turn, with prosecutors playing the body cam footage of Mangione's arrest after he allegedly shot Thompson at a McDonald's outlet in Pennsylvania.
His defense has also asked the court to dismiss any evidence, as Mangione was not given his Miranda rights from the time of his arrest till this point. The court also admitted audio evidence from a 911 call, which led to Mangione's arrest.
The caller on the other end of the line had told the cops that several customers told her Mangione looked like the guy who was identified as Thompson's shooter.
The alleged killer is currently facing state and federal charges of first-degree murder. Once the state phase of his case rounds up, he will be all set to begin the federal phase of the murder case.
Luigi Mangione's Lawyers Contested The Death Penalty

In May, The Blast shared that the prosecuting team made active moves in favor of the death penalty following alleged proof that Thompson's murder was premeditated by Mangione based on his diary entries.
He had also entered a not-guilty plea in a New York City federal court to several charges, including murder through the use of a firearm. Since his arrest, Mangione's case has garnered attention across America with a faction of strong supporters who have shown support towards securing his freedom.
Many of his supporters claimed his actions were a result of growing frustration with the health insurance industry. The situation seemingly reignited clamor and calls for necessary healthcare reforms across the country as his defense team also launched a website to let his supporters keep tabs on the case.
The 27-Year-Old's Attorney Slammed Donald Trump For His Sabotage Comments

The alleged killer's defense team penned an open letter to the federal court, stating that Trump's careless comments about Mangione during his Fox News appearance in September set a dangerous tone for their case.
In the interview, The Blast shared that Trump had likened Mangione's actions to those of Charlie Kirk's killer, tagging it as a sickness.
"The Government has indelibly prejudiced Mr. Mangione by baselessly linking him to unrelated violent events and left-wing extremist groups, despite there being no connection or affiliation," the lawyers claimed.
They noted that Kirk's gruesome death and the manner in which it happened had set a thick dark cloud over American society and also fueled theories that connected Mangione to severe extremist activity.
The defense team added that such a comment from Trump was a direct violation of an April gag order, which prohibited any public comments on the case. Mangione's lawyers said that it could also tamper with their client's right to a fair hearing.

For lunch, Mangione was reportedly offered pasta with meat sauce and chickpea marinara accompanied by spinach, whole wheat bread, fruit, and a beverage.
At dinner time, the Pennsylvanian native was served a chicken patty sandwich, a chickpea burger, steamed rice, pinto beans, lettuce, tomato, mayo, a hamburger bun, and a drink.
