Kandi Burruss Reveals How She’s Handling ‘Life-Changing’ Divorce From Todd Tucker In Emotional Update

Kandi Burruss is not afraid to acknowledge her struggles under the weight of her nasty divorce from her ex-husband, Todd Tucker. 

The reality TV star shared an emotional update on navigating life while being embroiled in a legal battle with Tucker. She acknowledged that despite the struggles in her personal life, she still manages to show up for the people she cares about. 

Burruss and Tucker tied the knot in 2014. However, their star-crossed love story came to an end in November 2025, when the “RHOA” star announced her split from Tucker.

The reality star shared a lengthy video compilation on Instagram, giving an inside look into several key moments that unfolded over the past months.

She shared pictures and videos from celebrations, parties, and events she attended with her loved ones. 

In the caption, the 49-year-old star penned a raw and honest note about putting up a happy smile on her face despite going through challenges in her personal life.

Burruss noted that, regardless of her struggles, she still carved out time to support her loved ones while ignoring her own challenges. 

“This is what I look like when I’m going through something. I show up for my family, I show up for my friends, I show up to handle my business, & I show up with a smile all while on the inside I’m emotionally broken,” she wrote. 

The “RHOA” star revealed that in every slide, she was “internally dealing with something life-changing,” but the people around her had “no clue” that she was struggling under “inner stress and sadness.” 

Burruss explained that she often deals with challenges by internalizing them. She further tagged herself as “the poster child for the saying "check on your strong friend because you never know what they are going through."

Kandi Burruss Found Out That Todd Tucker Was Allegedly Communicating With Other Women 

Burruss’ emotional post comes on the heels of a shocking revelation that alleged the businessman may not have been faithful in his 11-year marriage to the reality star. 

A source close to the couple revealed that Burruss got upset when she “found out that Todd had been talking to other women behind her back.” 

This allegedly led her to ultimately walk away from the marriage. According to The Blast, she announced her split from Tucker, saying she was stepping into a new phase of her life.

She explained that she planned to pour herself into her work and growth and asked the public to respect her privacy as her family goes through the transition period. 

The ‘RHOA’ Star Is Determined To Protect Her Children Amid Legal Battle With Tucker

Burruss' decision to walk away from her 11-year-old marriage resulted in a lengthy legal battle that quickly turned ugly. 

Determined to protect her children from the ugliness of it all, Burruss filed a request asking that the court seal crucial information relating to her divorce.

In her request, she argued that both she and Tucker are high-profile personalities in the entertainment space. As such, there may be more public attention on their case, which may negatively affect their kids down the line. 

“It is in the best interests of the minor children that the proceedings and all aspects within be sealed to prevent disclosures on social media, internet, and media at large while the matter is pending before the court and thereafter compromising the integrity of the overall proceedings,” Burruss’ legal team stated, per The Blast.

Prenup Battle Between Burruss And Tucker Gets Ugly

Before Burruss made a move to prioritize her children’s well-being, she countered Tucker’s attempt to invalidate their prenup.

As The Blast reported, Tucker alleged that he signed the prenup without sound legal advice and, therefore, wanted the court to render it null. 

Unwilling to let the prenup slide, Burruss noted that Tucker willingly signed the prenup and had even mentioned speaking to his legal team. The actress further requested that the court review tapes from the “RHOA” spinoff for their wedding, which showed key information that would further invalidate Tucker’s claims. 

Todd Tucker Made An Unexpected Move To Request Primary Custody Of The Children 

In addition to a request to invalidate the prenuptial agreement, an unrelenting Tucker also made a shocking move, asking the court to grant him primary custody of their children.

According to The Blast, he claimed that Burruss would be too occupied with work and other commitments and positioned himself as a better caregiver for their children.  

The businessman further claimed that he would have the “substantial time and meaningful access to the children” required to provide a healthy growth environment for them. He also claimed to recognize his ex-wife as a “capable” parent and expressed a desire to see them resolve their issues soon enough.
