Fran Drescher missed out on motherhood, but it does not mean her mission on earth is done!

The TV star revealed her cancer diagnosis at the age of 42 came with permanent damage to her reproductive system, but she quickly channeled it into something bigger.

Fran Drescher has had a few significant experiences during her time as a famous face in the industry, including her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, coming out as a gay man right after their divorce.

The actress confessed that when she heard the verdict that her uterine cancer had taken away her chance to have kids, it was very hard to bear. She recalled having it for about two years before a proper diagnosis was finally made, and the next step was to conduct a "radical hysterectomy, a full cavity wash."

Drescher added that at a period very close to her diagnosis, she had considered having children with a man 16 years younger than her, and she was told to freeze an embryo because her fertility was low.

Unfortunately for her, the process led to the cancer discovery, and the chapter was sealed, expressing her mind on the event, Drescher noted to PEOPLE:

"That was my destiny. I think it's hard for any woman to have that surgery, but for ones who have never had children, like myself, it was definitely a bitter pill to swallow."

Drescher continued in her interview that she quickly rose from the ashes of her loss and wrote a best-selling book about it, alongside creating a nonprofit body that advocates for early detection and prevention of cancer.

Aside from creating Cancer Schmancer, the actress also became a public diplomacy envoy for the State Department on family health issues. She put her office to good use by lobbying Congress to pass a law that educates women and doctors about gynecologic cancers.

The bill was passed and enacted in 2007; a proud moment for the actress who emphasized that all 100 senators of the United States gave their consent.

"I was sent all over to our allied nations to speak just as I do to this day, and our military bases too, because people in the military, particularly women, aren't being screened for cancer," she explained further.

As shared by In Style in 2019, the actress discussed how her experience with rape, divorce, and cancer fueled her resolve to get more out of life. Drescher was raped at gunpoint when her home was broken into in 1985, an event she almost never came to terms with, as she did not want to appear weak or vulnerable.

She added that she redirected her focus to being responsible for everyone around her, until uterine cancer slowed her down in 1999, forcing her to come to terms with all the pain she had shoved down for years.

The actress creatively found a way to analyze her diagnosis, stating: "But it was also an amazing affirmation that pain finds its way to exactly the right place in the body if you don't deal with it. Since I hadn't been paying attention to my own vulnerabilities, my pain from the rape lodged itself in my uterus."

She added that she let go of all her superwoman complex and began leaning more into her feelings of needing help and actually asking for it.

Drescher's love life has unfortunately failed to mirror her iconic career in Hollywood, with her two public attempts at settling down forever ending dramatically.

The List reported that she first got married to Jacobson in 1978, her high school sweetheart, at just 21 years old. As the marriage went on, the actress revealed that her ex-husband suddenly became overbearing and engulfed with jealousy, even towards their dog.

The sudden change in the producer's behavior was what pushed Drescher to file for divorce after 21 years together. Jacobson ended up opening up to the actress that he was bisexual, a fact he had no idea about, even at the point of their marriage.

While Drescher reportedly tried keeping up with the union, she soon realized she had to leave for the sake of her happiness, and Jacobson was initially not displeased with that decision, but he got over it.

The actress gave marriage another shot in 2014, after meeting her second husband, Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai. However, things ended two years later due to the differences in their lifestyle and her ex's inability to understand the limelight.

Describing the end of the marriage, Drescher said to The Cut: "The first year was bliss, the second year was agony and ecstasy, and the third year was just agony, and I said, 'Enough.'"

The actress noted that her marriage to Jacobson left a lasting impact on her dating life, and these days, she gets by through the concept of friends with benefits.

Last year, The Blast shared that she told Page Six about her interesting roster of friends who help her get the edge off. Drescher explained that she still loves her ex-husband despite coming out as gay after their divorce, which is why all she can offer to anyone is a friendship with something more on the side.

She revealed that in 2020, she had one of those arrangements where her friend with benefits would come over to the house, hang out with her in the tub, and catch up on movies together, with some sex to complete the delightful moment.

Unfortunately, the pandemic took her friend away from her as he spent time on a tropical island and thought it was safer than coming into town.

What will Fran Drescher reveal next?
