Wednesday’s third season has been the subject of swirling rumors, shifting dates, and a healthy dose of wishful thinking, but the fog is finally clearing. After months of conflicting whispers about when cameras would roll again, we now have something solid to hold onto. The long-awaited return to Nevermore is officially set, thanks to Luis Guzmán letting slip the key detail fans have been hunting for.

There’s been a lot of information flying around about the production timeline for season 3 of Wednesday, and that’s partly because it’s been up in the air. When we first heard that season 3 was even a thing, we learned that a Fall 2025 production start date had been set. An interview with Hunter Doohan seemingly backed that up, suggesting that as soon as he wraps up his new film project, he’ll be headed straight back to Ireland. Forbes also reported a November start. November has come and gone, and filming has yet to begin.

Our intel all along has been a Spring 2026 start in Ireland, but thankfully, we now know when it’ll begin.

Luis Guzman finally confirmed when the new season will begin filming. As first spotted by fan account Micol on X, Guzman was attending a live Q&A, and during his answers, he confirmed season 3 would begin in February 2026. We’ve also confirmed this with other locations.

As a reminder, the production is filming under the company name NIGHTSHADE & RAVEN S3 PRODUCTIONS LLC with the working title, Willow Hill.

What else is happening in the world of Wednesday? A few things, let’s recap:

  • Wednesday Season 2 completed its 91-day window (the period Netflix uses to measure its all-time most-watched list) on December 3rd, with the show now sitting as the fourth-most-watched English title in Netflix’s history. It was significantly down on season 1, however.
  • In the first casting news for season 3, Ava Green was confirmed as Aunt Ophelia.
  • In an interview with Games Radar/Total Film, Jenna Ortega teased more on what’s coming up in season 3, teasing a more female-focused story in upcoming episodes, saying, “Now that we’ve introduced the wonderful Joanna Lumley as my mother, I’d like to tell more about that story. We left it on a bit of a cliffhanger, but what was it that got to that situation? And how, as a mother, I don’t want that to happen in this relationship [with Wednesday].”
  • TUDUM, when updating their recent coverage on Wednesday, S3, confirmed the returning cast:
    • Jenna Ortega
    • Emma Myers
    • Hunter Doohan
    • Joy Sunday
    • Moosa Mostafa
    • Georgie Farmer
    • Isaac Ordonez
    • Billie Piper
    • Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo
    • Victor Dorobantu
    • Evie Templeton
    • Luis Guzmán
    • Catherine Zeta-Jones
    • Joanna Lumley
    • Fred Armisen

Netflix has yet to confirm any release window for season 3, but it’s highly unlikely to be back in 2026 with our current intel continuing to point to a targeted July 2027 release.

Finally, production designers have been submitting their works for the annual ADG Awards, and Wednesday’s Mark Scruton has submitted a bunch of concept art and behind-the-scenes looks at how season 2 came together. We’ll post a few of our favorite snaps, but you can find the whole book here
