Tyra Banks Is Determined To Resurrect This Iconic ’90s Accessory For 2026

"America's Next Top Model" host Tyra Banks is no stranger to pairing pieces together to create an iconic look for the runway or a massive fashion spread. Since entering the game at age 15, Banks has seen it all, from classic, chic looks to viral trends that come and go in a minute. But there's one trend from back in the day that the mother of one is hoping will make an epic comeback in 2026, and the answer might come as a surprise.
What Fashion Trend Does Tyra Banks Want To See Have A Resurgence In 2026?

Speaking with PEOPLE at the world premiere of Cirque Du Soleil LUDÕ in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, Banks, 52, revealed that she's hoping a certain '90s fashion trend will make a comeback in the coming months. As she explained, her love for '90s-era fashion has been with her for years, and a specific trend could finally be ready for its revival. "If I could bring back a '90s trend … [I’d] love those tight necklaces, and they had … a little handle on them, and we made them with black string. Like a black ribbon," she said. According to Banks, the look is simple and cheap. "Please come back," she added. "Make it happen."
Tyra Banks Opens Up About Her Viral Hot Ice Cream Brand, Smize & Dream
In addition to reimagining former trends, the outspoken TV personality and iconic runway model has been keeping busy building her brand, Smize & Dream ice cream. The sweet treat is a bit of a conundrum, as it's described as warm and sippable, reminiscent of a hot, creamy drink and an ice cream sundae.
The superstar's flagship store opened in Sydney, Australia, and has since become one of the most talked-about celebrity creations in years. During her interview, she called the shop's success "insane," revealing that the support has taken her by surprise.
"I never in a million years thought it would be viral. I never in a million years thought I would be in … Mexico and at a Cirque Du Soleil opening of a new show and being asked about it. So it's beyond my expectations, and now I have to live up to it," she said.

Banks understands that the concept of her hot ice cream business can be a bit confusing to some. "I realized that when I named it hot ice cream, that it's like playing on opposite — hot, cold, frozen, heat. So it just boggles people's minds," she said, later calling it "amazing."
To generate even more buzz for the creation, Banks developed a character, Santa Smize, who, according to Banks, "looks exactly like me" and "has problems with me because I invented hot ice cream."
Santa Smize, as Banks put it, is jealous of Smize & Dream's success. "So it's a whole situation. You're gonna be seeing a lot of her — especially next Christmas — because she is also going viral. 'Cause she is in pain,'" Banks added.
Banks' Santa Smize Character Caused Some Concern On Social Media

Banks' Santa Smize character has already grabbed headlines this holiday season, according to The Blast. Just a few weeks ago, the fictional character made an appearance at an Australian pub and raised eyebrows after she was recorded sharing her intense feelings about Smize & Dream.
"Child, he ain't biting that cookie. He ain't sipping that cream," Banks, dressed as Santa Smize in a long yellow wig and Santa hat, said. "He taking a bowl from your cabinet… and he putting a little bit of cookie, and he putting a little bit of that milk, and he mixing it up. And then he put it in your freezer. And he trying to make it taste like Santa SMiZE, and it tastes like Santa sh-t!"
Users shared their reactions to the video, with some expressing concern and others praising the "ANTM" alum for thinking outside the box. "She's always been quirky like this and her entire brand is centered around it so back up off Tyra Banks," someone wrote.
Banks Sued For $2.8 Million Over Smize & Dream

While Banks' dessert shop might be a hit in Australia, the former Victoria's Secret runway model is facing legal trouble back in the States. According to a new report, a DC man named Christopher Powell has filed a $2.8 million lawsuit against the model and her business partner, alleging they agreed to lease a building of his to serve as the flagship location of Smize & Dream. In the documents, Powell stated that he later saw that Banks was opening a location in another country and had allegedly failed to pay the agreed-upon fees. In addition to the $2.8 million, Powell is seeking late fees, interest, attorneys' fees, and other costs outlined in the lease.
