Tyler Perry is facing growing uncertainty as two sexual assault lawsuits place the entertainment mogul under intense legal and public scrutiny.

Once celebrated as a symbol of Black ownership and success in Hollywood, Perry now finds his legacy challenged by allegations from actors who claim he abused his power.

With his accusers’ lawyer warning that more lawsuits could follow, the situation appears far from settled, raising serious questions about what comes next for one of Hollywood’s most influential figures.

Perry is now confronting two separate sexual assault lawsuits, both accusing him of exploiting his influence in Hollywood to abuse aspiring male actors.

The first lawsuit was filed in June and a second lawsuit followed six months later, intensifying the legal pressure surrounding the media mogul.

Unfortunately for the Hollywood icon, his legal troubles may be far from over.

Recently, Jonathan Delshad, the attorney representing both accusers, made it clear that the situation could escalate further.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “There’s now two of these lawsuits. There may be more coming.”

As The Blast reported, Tyler Perry was hit with his first major sexual assault lawsuit of the year earlier in June 2025.

Actor Derek Dixon, who worked on Perry’s television series “The Oval” and “Ruthless,” filed a lawsuit alleging unwanted sexual advances, misconduct, and harassment while working on set.

In detail, Dixon claimed that the filmmaker offered him a two-episode role in “Ruthless” after taking his number and promising to get in touch in 2019.

The actor alleged that the following year he visited Perry’s home in hopes of establishing a friendship that could lead to more acting roles. However, things allegedly didn’t go as planned.

There, Dixon recalled spending the night, as he was too intoxicated. While asleep, Perry allegedly got into the actor’s bed and made sexual advances at him, which Dixon claimed he rejected.

The 35-year-old also recalled receiving sexual texts from Perry while filming “The Oval.”

According to reports, Dixon allegedly told Perry off quietly, even though he feared his career would be impacted.

Following the filing of his $260 million lawsuit, Dixon appeared in his first televised interview with ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis.

The network dropped a teaser for the interview on Instagram, which sparked a ton of backlash from Perry’s fans.

Many users slammed Dixon for trying to exploit Perry, calling his claims BS.

One person wrote, “This man is lying.” A second fan shared that they couldn’t trust Dixon as his accusations sounded made up.

A third fan commented, “I don’t see Tyler Perry risking his empire on a sexual encounter unless he was sure all parties agreed. It’s just too risky unless it didn’t turn out the way this man intended.”

A fourth user also noted, “Boy you sound like you lying. Stop it!!! And who is this lady interviewing him looking like she’s from 1986?”

The legal challenges for Tyler Perry escalated dramatically on December 26, 2025, when a second sexual assault lawsuit was filed by actor Mario Rodriguez, who appeared in a minor role in “Boo! A Madea Halloween.”

Rodriguez alleged that the “Sistas” star subjected him to unwanted sexual advances and alleged misconduct over several years, claiming interactions occurred between 2014 and 2019 and that those encounters took place under the guise of career opportunities.

In his complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Rodriguez is seeking at least $77 million in damages for sexual assault, sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and other harms.

He also named “Boo! A Madea Halloween” distributor Lionsgate as a co-defendant, arguing the studio turned a blind eye to the alleged misconduct.

Meanwhile, Perry’s representative attorney, Alex Spiro, has denied the allegations, calling it a money grab scam.

In a statement, he said, “I said it before and I will say it again. This is nothing but a $77 million money grab scam.”

Texts Between Tyler Perry And Mario Rodriguez Surface, Raising Questions

In a dramatic development tied to the second lawsuit, text messages between Perry and Rodriguez surfaced, complicating the narrative around their relationship.

As The Blast reported, screenshots showed Rodriguez reaching out to Perry as late as Thanksgiving 2024 and August 2025, expressing gratitude for past support, friendship, and even financial assistance during hard times.

In one message, the actor told Perry, “Just know that I love you and I thank you for everything. I appreciate you to the moon,” and thanked him for helping him through hard times.

Rodriguez also allegedly texted Perry again on Aug. 31, 2025, describing ongoing health issues, saying he lacked health insurance and was scared and struggling financially.

In one message, he wrote that he had promised never to ask for anything but admitted, “I don’t think I could do it on my own because I barely pay my bills,” and that he couldn’t even afford to go to the doctor. To date, it remains unknown if Perry responded to Rodriguez’s pleas.

Reacting to the alleged texts, Jonathan Delshad suggested that it made Perry culpable. He told The Hollywood Reporter, "They may say that Tyler Perry is just a philanthropic guy and that he does this for everyone and, maybe he does, but it seems unlikely."

The attorney added, “I would imagine his phone would be blowing up from hundreds of thousands of actors who played small roles in his movies.”

He concluded, “Why did Mario feel comfortable enough to ask him for money and why did [Perry] respond four years after they made a movie together?”
