Timothy Busfield is challenging the narratives in his ongoing case!

The director is playing judge in his sexual abuse case, apportioning blame to the prosecution witness for insisting he stays locked up despite the shaky nature of the allegations against him.

Timothy Busfield is currently held without bond at a correctional facility in New Mexico on child abuse charges following an accusation against him inappropriately touching two minors on the set of a TV show.

The 68-year-old struck back with a filing opposing the prosecution witness's case to ensure he stays behind bars during the pretrial stages of his criminal case on Friday night. According to the actor, the prosecution is basically asking the judge to lock him up based on a story that barely holds water.

Busfield claimed the prosecutors have not provided any reliable evidence to confirm that he sexually abused the twin brother, who acted on "The Cleaning Lady."

The actor noted that the prosecuting team built their case on account of events from the twins' parents, Angele LaSalle and Ronald Rodis, who witnessed him replace their sons on set in 2024.

Busfield stated that the parents of the boys eventually resorted to accusing him after their boys lost their roles and consulting with civil counsel to build their case. According to TMZ, Busfield insisted that the case was nothing, which was definitely fueled by "financial and retaliatory motive."

The media personality did not mince words in his rebuttal as he also came after the parents of the kids. According to the 68-year-old, Ronald is a former lawyer who was disbarred after getting convicted of federal conspiracy and wire fraud.

The actor continued that Ronald had defrauded over 1,500 homeowners of their hard-earned money and parted ways with about $6 million, for which he was prosecuted. Busfield then came after his wife, claiming that she also had a lot of civil judgment on her name for fraudulent and dishonest conduct.

Busfield is now asking for the prosecution motion to be trashed by the judge and a release from incarceration because he does not see himself as a danger to society.

The Blast shared that Busfield's lawyer claimed the parents of the boys directed their frustration at the actor instead of the showrunner who decided to replace the boys.

When Warner Bros caught wind of the allegations, they reportedly conducted an internal review of the complaints and contacted Busfield regarding this investigation.

The company reportedly contacted an independent investigator to conduct a thorough review of the allegation, which came back with no speck of dirt against the actor.

The investigator, Christina McGovern, noted that there was "no corroborating evidence that Mr. Busfield engaged in inappropriate conduct or that he was ever alone with the twins on set."

A spokesperson for Warner Bros studio emphasized that the studio places a premium on the safety of its cast and crew, including minors. The studio affirmed its commitment to cooperating fully with law enforcement while taking the allegations with all seriousness.

Busfield's defense team attached a few testimonials from his famous Hollywood friends alongside their motion for his release. The Daily Mail reported that Actor and director Peter Horton, as well as actors Patricia Wettig and Mackenzie Astin, who have all worked with Busfield, all wrote statements in the brief.

Horton described Busfield as a great actor and an excellent director, whom he can vouch for, especially since they are both dads to girls. As for Wettig, she recalled starring alongside the actor for a movie that had an intimate scene, and he displayed maturity, humility, and care throughout.

Wettig revealed that the actor always did his best to make all the kids comfortable on set, and she established her unwavering trust in the media personality. Astin, in his statement, recalled the actor saving his acting career amid his struggle with addiction in the early 2000s by giving him a minor TV role after his return from rehab.

"That job made a significant impact on my recovery. I was reminded that I was capable as an actor, and that the new life I had begun, the sober life, would be rewarded," Astin explained. Busfield's wife, Melissa Gilbert, described her husband as an honorable man who should be protected by the judge.
