Filming is officially underway on the second season of Netflix’s steamy crime-drama The Hunting Wives. Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman will return to reprise their roles as Sophie and Margo. Here’s everything we know about The Hunting Wives season 2 on Netflix.

Formerly on StarzThe Hunting Wives is now a Netflix Original series following an incredibly successful run on the platform in the United States. Thanks to the show’s instant success, Netflix had no trouble renewing the series for a second season. However, what’s more exciting is that the series will return as a fully fledged Netflix original, which means it will be released worldwide exclusively (with a few asterisks) on Netflix.

Season 1 has also been rolling out onto Netflix in more regions beyond the US, with more set to pick up the show in mid-December 2025.

The Hunting Wives is a crime-drama television series led by showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Cutter. The show is adapted from May Cobb’s crime novel of the same name, and produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment. Cutter, May Cobb, Erwin Stoff, and Julie Anne Robinson are the executive producers of the series.

The series stars Brittany Snow as Sophie, who, after moving from Massachusetts to the town of Maple Brook, East Texas, befriends Margo (Malin Akerman) and her elite socialite clique known as the Hunting Wives. But when teenager Abby is found dead in the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, Sophie must protect herself from a crime she’s sure she didn’t commit when the Hunting Wives start to look for someone to blame.

What to expect from The Hunting Wives season 2

The first season of The Hunting Wives was adapted from May Cobb’s novel of the same name. However, the second season will be a completely new and original story.

Margo’s murder of Abby to hide her secrets and maintain her lifestyle was the catalyst for many of the deaths in the first season. With others trying to solve Abby’s murder, fingers were pointed, and thanks to the blame being passed around among different suspects, this resulted in the deaths of Starr, Jill, and Kyle.

Margo is still at large, whom Sophie successfully deduced to be Abby’s killer. However, her confrontation with Margo before going to the police is what led to the death of her brother, Kyle, whom Sophie ran over and dragged his body into the woods after he tried to run her off the road. Sophie, unable to go to the police over her previous history with drinking and driving, is now one of several people who have committed murder in the series. With Kyle missing, it won’t be long before the police begin an investigation into his disappearance.

Margo knows Sophie has something to do with Kyle’s death, as the latter accidentally answered Kyle’s phone when attempting to dispose of his body. Sophie is now highly unlikely to go to the police to expose Margo, or be exposed herself.

With Jill blamed for the murders of Abby and Starr, the case is now “closed.” Sophie will definitely be feeling the heat in season 2 once the police begin their investigation into Kyle’s death. We can expect a lot of tension between Sophie and Margo, who will likely try to find ways to take each other down without exposing themselves for their crimes.
