'Succesion' Star Nicholas Braun Reportedly Walks Clean From DUI Case

Nicholas Braun has a DUI-free record once again.

The "Succession" actor was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence over Labor Day weekend in New Hampshire last year. As it stands, the case has been dropped, and the record wiped like it never existed.

Nicholas Braun was arrested for DUI on Friday, August 29, 2025. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, he was not allowed to touch alcohol and other controlled substances while the case was pending. This was quite ironic as he owns and runs a bar in Manhattan.

Why Were Nicholas Braun's Charges Dropped?

Braun is walking away clean from this case, no baggage attached. The actor is reportedly clear after his DUI arrest, and not only have the charges been dropped, but the record has been completely expunged.

On December 10, 2025, a judge granted the petition to annul the record, and the certificate to that effect was issued seven days later. This means that the public record of the crime has been completely erased from the books.

A rep for the New Hampshire Judicial Branch, Av Harris, spoke to TMZ, sharing the details. However, the exact reason why the charges were dropped remains unclear. Efforts to clarify this from the prosecutors, police, and the actor's defense attorney have proved futile.

Over Labor Day weekend, Braun was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. He was taken into custody after being stopped by the New Hampshire State police at a traffic stop. He was taken into custody and held for less than an hour in the Carroll County jail in Moultonborough.

Although he was booked and jailed, his mugshot was not taken because the camera in the station was not functional at the time. The TV star was released with no bail, on his own recognizance, as he promised to attend his hearing for the misdemeanor charge.

When the case began a month later, Braun waived his formal arraignment and authorized his attorney to submit a not guilty plea on his behalf. The consequences for a DUI charge, as shared by The Blast, could range from a simple license suspension to jail time.

The judge, however, ordered that Braun must abstain from consuming alcohol, narcotics, and controlled substances even though he co-owns a trendy bar located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Ray's.

The TV Star Has Had Major Career Wins

Right from when he landed his first major on-screen role as Zach, the glowstick-powered sidekick in Disney's 2005 superhero comedy "Sky High," Braun has been building a name for himself in the industry.

He took on several projects, some demanding more from him than others. He previously disclosed how playing his character Derek in the viral-inspired A24 film "Zola" started seeping into his real life. From his looks, growing out his facial hair, and down to the way he spoke.

His stellar performance on "Succession" made waves for him in the industry and earned him three nominations for an Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Drama series. He shared how much he loved being a part of the project, describing it as the greatest working experience of his life.

The Actor Previously Had A Near-Death Experience

Th beginning of 2022 was not so pleasant for Braun as he was involved in a ghastly car accident. It occurred in the streets of L.A. when a driver hit his parked car. The impact of the accident was so significant that the other vehicle burst into flames almost immediately.

Thankfully, Braun was not inside his car when the incident occurred but was close enough to document everything, which he shared on his socials. The Blast reported that bystanders came to help with fire extinguishers to put out the flames on the other car.

Full of life and without a scratch, Braun joked that his totaled car was fine with just a few dents after the wreck, sharing a picture of the damaged SUV. His sarcastic side seems to be an inseparable part of his personality.

Braun has been dealt with his fair share of life hassle cards, but with the love of his life, all is well. He has been in a beautiful relationship with his girlfriend, Hyunji Ward, whom he calls the absolute joy of his life. 

He shared a sweet tribute to her on her birthday, posting a series of photos of her and cute ones of them together. Back in 2021, he expressed his thoughts on romance, disclosing he found it fascinating because he had not been in a long-term relationship yet.

"I do believe it'll happen at the right time with the right person. Until then, it's fun to meet people and see what works," the actor said in an interview. Safe to say, Braun has found his right person.
