Rob Reiner’s Son Removed From Suicide Watch After Final Email Was Revealed

Rob Reiner's son is no longer considered a danger to himself amid the ongoing double homicide case.
Nick Reiner remains behind bars at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles following his arrest and subsequent confinement for the gruesome murder of his famous parents.
Michele and Rob Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood home on December 14. The longtime couple passed away from stab wounds, with their second son taking the blame for their deaths.
Rob Reiner's Troubled Son No Longer Kept Under Heightened Security

According to a Los Angeles County sheriff source, Rob's infamous son is no longer on suicide watch at his correctional facility. Nick entered the jail system a day after his parents were killed and was immediately placed under close watch.
The heightened security included a suicide-prevention smock, which Nick was mandated to wear at all times. However, he will no longer need the outfit and will reportedly trade the smock for a yellow jail-issued shirt and blue trousers.
The source also told PEOPLE that Nick will not be released from High Observation Housing (HOH) until a judge, or a court hearing says otherwise. In the meantime, Rob's son will remain in solitary confinement and continue to be monitored.
The Alleged Killer's Arraignment Is Close

The Los Angeles County sheriff's source shed more light on Nick's routine behind bars, revealing officials checked on him every 15 minutes. They explained that the close monitoring is because the alleged killer "is still considered to have mental health issues" despite escaping suicide watch.
"He's in one of the two towers for mental health. When he leaves his cell, he is still escorted by a deputy and is still being recorded," the source shared. They added that, from their knowledge, Nick did not have trouble eating or sleeping.
The decision to take Nick off suicide watch arrived timely as he is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles Superior Court Stanley Mosk Courthouse on Wednesday, January 7, for his arraignment. He is facing two counts of first-degree murder and a special allegation that he used a knife in the killings.
The Late Filmmaker And His Wife Sent A Final Email To An Inmate

News of Nick's removal from suicide watch comes at the heels of his parents' unique bond with an inmate. The Blast covered the story, reporting that Rob and Michele had built a close relationship with a man who was once sentenced to death.
Nanon Williams, a man serving time for a crime he claims he never committed, reflected on his friendship with the late couple. Their bond began after Rob and Michele saw a live performance of "Lyrics from Lockdown," a spoken-word multimedia performance based partially on Williams' writings.
According to Williams, their bond grew stronger with time as he conversed with the couple via email. He revealed Michele had sent him an email just hours before she and Rob were killed. Unfortunately, the correspondence reached him long after their deaths.
The Deceased Couple Sent Out Holiday Cards Ahead Of Their Passing

Williams wasn't the only one to receive a posthumous message from Rob and Michele, as some of their loved ones got their Christmas cards days after their deaths. The Blast shared that celebrity trainer Neda Soderqvist broke the news on Instagram.
She shared the content of the Christmas card she had received in Rob and Michele's name in a heartfelt post, noting that it arrived through the mail. The Jam Malibu founder raved about her close relationship with the late couple, particularly Michele, in the post's caption.
The fitness guru revealed that Michele frequently gave her bonuses that she would vow to use solely for herself. However, to honor the late media personality, she promised to keep $100 and donate the rest to a foundation close to Michele's heart.
