Outer Banks season 5 is nearing the finish line, with production recently wrapping up an ambitious overseas shoot before heading back to the United States. After spending several weeks filming across Croatia, including Dubrovnik and its surrounding coastal landmarks, the cast and crew have now returned to South Carolina for the final stretch of production, as new behind-the-scenes photos and additional small casting details begin to emerge ahead of the show’s final season.
According to local outlet Dubrovnik Tourist Guides, the production filmed in multiple locations, including Dubrovnik, Cavtat, and on Lokrum Island (some of which can be seen below).
The outlet states that the bulk of filming took place in Dubrovnik’s Old Town and several surrounding landmarks. Key locations included the UNESCO-protected Old Town and Stradun, which were used for street-level action and chase sequences, as well as the Old Port (Porat) and Lapad Marina in Gruž Harbour for boat-based scenes. Production also filmed along select sections of the Dubrovnik City Walls, in Luža Square, at Sponza Palace, the Jesuit Staircase, and within the Franciscan Monastery, using the city’s preserved medieval architecture to create a range of visually distinct settings.
Beyond the city core, filming extended to Danče Beach for rugged coastal action, Srđ Mountain for panoramic establishing shots, and Lokrum Island for outdoor scenes set among botanical gardens, rocky shorelines, and historic ruins. Additional sequences were shot in the area around Sesame Restaurant and in the nearby coastal town of Cavtat, whose waterfront promenade and old center provided a quieter but equally photogenic backdrop.
