Days after reports surfaced that the "Wrestler" actor was being evicted from his Los Angeles-area home due to unpaid rent, an indie film director has stepped up to get the controversial star back in front of the camera.

On January 5, 2026, Mickey Rourke released a statement on social media, condemning recent reports and rejecting the GoFundMe created on his behalf to help him get back on his feet.

Speaking with TMZ, director Eric Spade Rivas said he felt sorry for Rourke, who has reportedly been going through tough times over the last month.

Rivas explained that he wanted to be of service to Rourke, so he offered the Oscar nominee $1,000 to make a cameo in the "Scarface Resurrection" film he's creating.

According to the outlet, Rivas wants Rourke for only one scene, which would run about 2 minutes.

If Rourke takes the offer, it wouldn't be the first time that he and Rivas have worked together.

TMZ reported that Rourke actually agreed to appear in Rivas' 2020 production "The Duke of New York" for $5,000 but reportedly backed out at the last minute.

Rivas isn't holding on to the past, though, stating that he wants to ink a deal with Rourke to make things right.

The director also explained that he wished he could write a larger check to Rourke. However, with the film already shot and in the final stages of editing, and with a small budget, Rivas' hands are tied.

The movie is scheduled to debut in April 2026, so if Rourke wants the cash, he'll have to make a decision fairly soon.

Rourke's potential payday comes days after reports surfaced revealing the actor was facing eviction from his West Hollywood home after falling behind $59,100 in rent.

According to The Blast, the homeowner, Eric Goldie, initially served the paperwork on December 29, 2025, demanding that Rourke pay or vacate the property.

The legal documents state that Rourke began renting the home in March 2025 for $5,200 per month, which later increased to $7,000 per month.

Goldie is seeking the nearly $60,000 in back rent and attorney's fees.

Fans Donate Over $100,000 To Rourke Via GoFundMe

A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign was created for the actor days after reports of his financial struggles surfaced online.

"This fundraiser is being created with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent that from happening," the campaign's description read. "Mickey Rourke is an icon—but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs."

The campaign has raised nearly $101,000 as of January 6, 2026. However, in a scathing Instagram video, Rourke rejected the GoFundMe, calling it "embarrassing" and "humiliating."

"That's not me, okay?" he said in the video. "I'd rather, if I needed money, I wouldn't ask for no f-cking charity. I'd rather stick a gun up my [butt] and pull the trigger."

Rourke's Manager Claps Back At Him, Says She Wants The Actor To Find Work Amid Struggles

Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines, later released a statement, stating that her client was fully aware that a GoFundMe was being created to provide him with financial support during this challenging time.

"We said, ‘Mickey, there’s some people that want to help you out.’ He’s like, ‘Okay, great.’ I don’t think he understood, and now it’s taken on this media frenzy, and he flipped out," Hines said.

Hines implied that nobody is rooting for the 73-year-old harder than she is. "I want him working. I don't want him doing a GoFundMe," she said.

Following Rourke's departure from his West Hollywood home, Hines shared that she's taken on the financial responsibility of finding him shelter while she works to get the money to him, since he doesn't have a bank account.

"We just wanted to get him out of there. He got to the hotel. We got the dogs out. We got him set up. We got what he needs for the next week. Then we organized movers. Then we got everything, all his clothing packed up. I rented a U-Haul," Hines said.

While Hines hasn't responded to the recent $1,000 offer extended to Rourke, she previously said he should take all the help he can get, as she won't be able to financially support him much longer.

"I’m not a Getty. I’m a working woman," she concluded.
