Melania Trump seemingly left a sour taste in the mouths of many internet users with her annual Christmas tradition.

The 55-year-old first lady visited the children's national hospital in Washington, D.C., where she took time out to read to the kids and get them in the festive groove.

In photos from her visitation, a group of kids gathered around her as she sat down to read "How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney?"

However, the former model didn't invite the children to see the pictures that accompanied the text, leaving many social media users confused by her approach to reading such a book to kids, with some wondering how she expects children of that age to enjoy her story session.

Social media users honed in on what they perceived as a notable lack of enthusiasm and an unusual delivery from the First Lady for kids.

"Um, retired first-grade teacher here. Did Melania ever think to show the children the pictures in the book?" a critic asked of her.

Another said, "DON'T THE KIDS WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES, MELANIA, OR YOU CAN'T READ UPSIDE DOWN?"

"I don't mind her accent. But she doesn't know how to read a book to children," someone else wrote, while another added, "It was obvious by the fact that Melania never turned the book to show children the pictures that she has never read a book to a child in her life."

One more person noted, "You know, I don't have to like Melania. I also think if you read to kids, you show them the pictures and don't dress like a funeral director, but that's just me."

Melania's visit didn't only see her read to the kids, but she also got acquainted with a few of them after the story session ended.

According to the Daily Mail, she met a current hospital patient named Hinkle and made sure he had a proper greeting with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

She then met with other children before hugging Hinkle as she was about to take her leave. The First Lady obviously didn't come empty-handed, as she had with her "Be Best" ornaments to give the patients.

Melania also got a gold coin gift from Santa Claus with the inscription "believe" and "Merry Christmas" written on it.

The visit to the hospital is an annual tradition that sees first ladies make an appearance at the children's hospital, and Melania came every year during Donald Trump's first tenure.

The tradition dates back to the Truman administration, when his wife, Bess Truman, became the first lady to make an appearance. All first ladies since then have followed suit.

Meanwhile, Melania is understood to be "furious" with a TikTok Pastor Stuart Knechtle for exposing details of a call he had with Barron, President Trump's youngest son.

Knechtle claimed online that Barron is "very close to putting his faith in Christ." However, his actions have reportedly left Melania "furious" as she felt such a private conversation should have never been shared with the public.

"Melania has always stressed discretion," a White House source told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter's #Shuterscoop. "She believes her family's private life is sacred. This? It's a betrayal."

"Melania exploded when she heard about it," another source said. "This isn't just disappointment — it's fury."

The First Lady Has Always Tried To Shield Barron From The Public Eye

The pastor who leaked Barron's messages appeared on a recent episode of "The George Janko Show" podcast, where he revealed he and the teenager would often talk around 12:30 am.

He further claimed he shared "all the evidence for God and Christianity" with Barron, noting that the president's son's interest was piqued when he brought up "dreams and revelations."

However, he was unable to win Barron over, stating he seemed "very close to putting his faith in Christ. Very close."

According to a source, the pastor's move has greatly displeased Melania, whose goal always has been to protect her son from the public eye.
