Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, the latest ingenious film from Canadian mastermind Matt Johnson (of
Operation Avalanche, BlackBerry, Matt & Mara). This premiered at SXSW and at TIFF last year to stellar reviews - considered one of the best new comedies of 2025. It's a fun throwback to an old series called "Nirvana the Band the Show", created by
Matt Johnson and
Jay McCarrol in 2007, about these two goofballs trying to get their band a show at the Rivoli. This new movie is a meta mock riff. When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay accidentally travel back to the year 2008. Mayhem ensues.
