Joe Burrow wasn't going to let Patrick Mahomes be the only NFL quarterback presenting his offensive line with flashy gifts for Christmas 2025. In a new social media post shared by Burrow's team, the Cincinnati Bengals, it was revealed that the LSU alum gave his teammates an epic, historic present: authentic fossils. That's right! The Southeast Ohio native took it way back this year, inviting his offensive line to his Cincinnati residence to have their pick of the preserved relics.

Burrow's gift to his O-line won't surprise loyal fans of the quarterback, as he's spoken openly about his fascination with history and fossils in an earlier episode of the Netflix series "Quarterback." In the clip shared online, Burrow could be heard gushing to a Bengals staffer all about the team's visit to the Natural History Museum.

"They took us behind the scenes and showed us some really cool stuff. It’s like a library of fossils that they don’t show everybody else," he said. "It was like you go to the shoe store, and they're like, 'Maybe we have it in the back,' and it was like all the fossils back there. It was pretty sick."

At another point in the episode, Burrow joked with a producer that he's always thinking about fossils. "When aren't fossils on your mind?" he asked. "They go back millions of years. That's sick."

Among the prehistoric haul, Bengals players Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarious Mims each received cave bear skulls, while Dylan Fairchild took home a Tyrannosaurus rex artifact. Cincinnati's center, Ted Karras, chose the tusk of a woolly mammoth, which, according to ESPN, is estimated to be about 30,000 years old.

"I think it speaks to his intelligence and interests and his desire to do something unique," Karras said about Burrow's holiday gifts. "I thought it was really special."

Brown echoed those sentiments, sharing, "It says a lot about who he is — his personality, his heart, all of those things, man. He's just a special person."

In the box, the Chiefs' players received a Hublot watch, an indoor golf practice kit, Beats Studio Pro headphones, Meta sunglasses, aluminum suitcases, and an Aventon e-bike.

The year prior, Mahomes handed out $425 Yeti Tundra Haul coolers, which included Rolex watches, leather cowboy boots, Oakley sunglasses, workout gear, and Adidas apparel.

One NFL player facing a gloomier holiday is Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf. According to The Blast, the 28-year-old received a two-game suspension and forfeited more than $500,000 after making contact with an unruly fan during a recent contest.

Reports have surfaced, claiming that the fan, identified as Ryan Kennedy, hurled a racial slur and another offensive term at Metcalf. However, at a press conference, Kennedy denied the allegations and urged Metcalf to speak out. "DeKaylin, if you're watching this, man, just, if you could just say that [he didn't use a racial slur], please, like, my family is getting threats and stuff and it's not cool," he said.

Metcalf's teammate, Aaron Rodgers, shared his take in a recent interview, calling for stricter guidelines around fan conduct. "I think there's a mindset that you pay for a ticket, you say whatever the heck you want. I think there should be some code of conduct," he said. "... I support DK. I'll continue to support DK."
