Hilary Duff's husband isn't the only family member of hers to find themselves in the middle of the "Lizzie McGuire" alum's suspected beef with fellow Disney star Ashley Tisdale.

Internet sleuths have confirmed that Hilary's sister, Haylie Duff, has picked a side in the latest Y2K drama taking over the internet, and it's not in support of her "Material Girls" co-star.

For those who might be unfamiliar, Ashley Tisdale sparked a social media frenzy in early January 2026 after sharing that she had decided to leave her "toxic" mom group in her rearview after realizing that the dynamic was unhealthy.

According to Us Weekly, Haylie expressed support for Tisdale on Instagram by liking the actor's joint post with "The Cut," the site where she shared her personal essay. "LEAVE YOUR TOXIC FRIENDS BEHIND YOU IN 2026, says @ashleytisdalefrench," the photo's caption reads. "For #ItsBeenAYear, the actress, beauty founder, and mother details dumping her mom group, where the bullying between women mirrored their children’s playground antics. Read the story of how it all unfolded, in her own words, at the link in bio."

While Hilary and Haylie have always appeared close, even sharing the screen in the 2006 film "Material Girls" and working together behind the scenes on the "Lizzie McGuire" movie, fans have long suspected a rift between the famous sisters. A 2023 Reddit thread shares more, with fans speculating that part of their fallout stems from Haylie's alleged support of right-wing ideologies.

According to a report from The Blast, Tisdale caused a frenzy online after her personal essay about how leaving a "toxic" mom group helped her realize she deserved better from friends in her life went viral.

In the essay, Tisdale wrote about feeling excluded from her group of friends, which reportedly included Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore, and Hilary, saying she'd often find out on social media that they were hanging out without her.

"Another time, at one of the mom's dinner parties, I realized where I sat with her, which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women," Tisdale continued. "I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me."

But she didn't stop there. Tisdale added that she eventually decided to break up with her group over text, telling them that the dynamic was "too high school for me."

While a rep from Tisdale's team denied that her essay was about any particular celebrity, Hilary's husband, Matthew Koma, took a direct jab at the "High School Musical" singer in his Instagram Stories, as covered by The Blast.

In the picture, the songwriter is seen mimicking a pose similar to Tisdale's. He captioned the image: "When You're The Most Self-Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers," before adding, "A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father's Eyes."

Fans were split down the middle regarding Koma's move, with some admitting that they were living for the mess, while others accused the singer of constantly attacking women.

Tisdale, who became a mother during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, sought to encourage readers of her personal essay with advice she's learned from motherhood.

"Motherhood has enough challenges without having to wonder if the people around you are on your side," she shared, reminding her followers that they "deserve" to experience the thrills of being a mother with genuine supporters and loved ones.

"And if you have to wonder if they [do support you], here’s the hard-earned lesson I hope you’ll take to heart: It’s not the right group for you. Even if it looks like they’re having the best time on Instagram," she finished.

According to a previous report from The Blast, Hilary made headlines in 2025 after sharing a snap of herself, admitting she got emotional after spilling coffee on her Balenciaga purse. "Spilled my entire coffee inside my purse and front seat," she wrote. "A whole milk latte. Didn't even get one sip."

Users slammed the "Younger" actress for being tone-deaf in today's climate. In contrast, others defended the "Mature" singer, explaining that she's allowed to be emotional about inconveniences despite her riches and fame.

"I don't think she highlighted the bag being ruined, more about the coffee being spilled without even drinking it. I'd be sad too," a user shared.
