Former Nickelodeon Star’s Life Takes A Dark Turn As New Details Emerge

Former Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase has sparked concern after new details revealed he has been living unhoused in Riverside, California.
Once a familiar face to early-2000s TV audiences, Chase’s recent circumstances came to light after a viral video showed him struggling on the streets.
Authorities have since spoken out, clarifying what they know and don’t know about his situation, while former co-stars and fans react with shock, sadness, and hope that he can still find a path forward.
Former Nickelodeon Star Tylor Chase’s Living Situation Raises Questions For Police
Authorities in Riverside, California, say it remains unclear how long Tylor Chase has been experiencing homelessness.
According to the Riverside Police Department, officers have had repeated contact with the former Nickelodeon actor, but do not have a clear timeline for when his situation began.
Public Information Officer Ryan Railsback told the Daily Mail, “We do not know how long he has been experiencing homelessness.”
Railsback emphasized that Chase has remained cooperative during encounters with law enforcement officers.
He added that the department’s Public Safety Engagement Team contacts Chase regularly and continues offering assistance.
Officers reportedly reach out at least once a week and present options such as temporary shelter and other support services, even though Chase has declined those offers so far.
Chase Continues To Decline Help Despite Outreach Efforts
While authorities remain concerned, they have confirmed that Tylor Chase is not wanted for any crimes.
Police told TMZ on Monday that the former child star has consistently declined offers for shelter, drug or alcohol treatment, and mental health services.
Railsback previously explained that Chase has turned down every option presented by the department’s outreach division.
Officials also stated they have not contacted the “Good Time Max” actor’s family during this time.
Railsback said, “Regarding family, I am not aware of any attempts by officers to contact relatives on his behalf.”
Despite the lack of progress, the Riverside Police Department says its Community Engagement Division remains committed to ongoing outreach.
On its website, the department explains that it “strives to address emerging crime trends, maintain safe school campuses, create safe parks and neighborhoods, reduce retail crime, and develop working partnerships with all of our Riverside communities.”

The report from the police department came after a viral video showing Tylor Chase in Riverside looking disheveled and struggling resurfaced.
The woman who filmed the clip in September initially asked if he was on the Disney Channel.
Chase calmly corrected her, saying “Nickelodeon,” and added that he was on “Ned’s Declassified.”
When she responded, “Oh yeah, you’re that kid on it,” he confirmed his identity by sharing his full name.
Authorities later said the actor did not appear upset when officers informed him that the video had gone viral.
The footage quickly spread online, prompting widespread sadness among fans who remembered him as Martin Qwerly.
Chase’s Nickelodeon Co-Stars React With Shock And Support
Tylor Chase’s former “Ned’s Declassified” co-stars, Devon Werkheiser, Daniel Curtis Lee, and Lindsey Shaw, addressed the situation on an episode of “Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide.”
Lee shared his emotional response, saying, “There was some bad news that I received earlier this week about our dear friend Tylor Chase. It was a lot to process for me,” and described the video as “scary.”
He admitted that he initially felt anger toward the person who filmed Chase, before grappling with his own sense of helplessness.
“When I first saw [it], I was angry… But then I was upset with myself because I feel powerless,” he said.
Shaw echoed similar feelings, saying she wanted to see Chase in person and support him, adding, “I miss Tylor, I love Tylor so, so much.”
Werkheiser described the situation as overwhelming. While acknowledging how painful it was to see Chase in that position, Werkheiser said he believed the woman who filmed the video had “her heart in the right place.”

Chase’s homelessness isn’t the only tragic news the Nickelodeon family has had to deal with in recent months.
On December 10, the voice acting legend Jim Ward died at age 66 from complications related to advanced Alzheimer’s disease.
Ward had been receiving care at Silverado Beverly Place Memory Care in Los Angeles.
Ward’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis had been known for years, and as it progressed, he was no longer able to work.
The actor was best known as the voice of characters like Doug Dimmadome and Chet Ubetcha on Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly OddParents,” roles he voiced across more than 90 episodes, and as Captain Qwark in the “Ratchet & Clank” video game series.
