Drake wasn't concerned about Jake Paul's ability in the ring with a former unified world heavyweight champion, as the Canadian rapper placed a hefty $200,000 wager on the YouTuber-turned-boxer to emerge victorious in his latest match.

On December 19, Jake Paul squared up against the 36-year-old Anthony Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, for the 14th professional fight of his boxing career. While the 28-year-old internet personality lasted longer in the ring than many expected, Joshua landed a clean right jab in the sixth round, securing his win.

Drake put his money where his mouth is on December 19, sharing a snap to his Instagram Stories of a $200,000 wager on Paul to defeat Joshua during their highly anticipated boxing match.

According to the image, Drake placed the six-figure bet at 8.20 odds on the betting app Stake. Had his bet been a winner, the "Big Rings" artist would've collected over $1.6 million.

This isn't the first time Drake has placed a substantial bet on an event Paul was participating in.

In November 2024, the father of one shared another image of his $355,000 bet on Paul to lose his match against boxing legend Mike Tyson; however, Paul defeated the 59-year-old in a unanimous decision.

Drake's passion for sports gambling has been well documented throughout the years. According to a previous report from The Blast, the 39-year-old opened up about a "crazy" night he and his crew had at a Dave & Buster's.

During the night out, Drake had a successful run at roulette, culminating in a massive multimillion-dollar win. "I think by the end of the night, we had won like 38 million? 40 million? Yeah, $40 million," he said.

Drake added, "It's crazy, the craziest night ever gambling for sure. January of 2024, it was crazy. That's not even the word for it."

Jake Paul Gets Knocked Out By Former Heavyweight Champion In The Sixth Round Of An Epic Fight

Paul and Joshua's bout finally came to fruition after a month of promotion. "This isn’t an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day. A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime," Paul told Netflix in November.

"When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title," he added. "To all my haters, this is what you wanted."

However, Paul experienced a different ending to the story he was planning, as Joshua finished the controversial streamer with a fierce right cross in the sixth round. Paul was visibly stunned, staring wide-eyed at the crowd shortly after falling over.

Following the match, Paul shared an Instagram image revealing that his jaw was broken in two places. "Broken jaw guys. Thanks for all the support I’m ok," he wrote.

Speaking with Netflix reporter Ariel Helwani after the match, Joshua reflected on his performance before giving Paul his props. "It wasn’t the best performance," he said. "I wanted to pin him down and hurt him. It took me longer than I expected."

Joshua stated that Paul "did really well" and that he deserves respect. "It takes a real man to do that and he deserves respect for trying and trying and trying. But he came up against a real fighter tonight," he added.

According to Joshua, boxing is more than just being an aggressive competitor. "Jake done well while it lasted... but fighting is not just physical, it's psychological," he said, revealing he spoke with Paul before their match.

"I did say to Jake, 'What's going to happen is I'm going to see a time when I'm going to take your soul, and you're either going to give up or get knocked out,'" he added.

Online, users seemed ecstatic over Paul's loss against the heavyweight champion, with one writing, "Imagine if Jake Paul getting knocked out was the first domino to fall in things finally taking a turn for the better in the world."

Another user wrote, "Been waiting 10 YEARS to see Jake Paul's smug face get knocked out... this means the world to me, man."
