Dick Van Dyke can't catch a break following the gruesome death of his longtime friend, Rob Reiner.

The Hollywood legend's longtime wife, Arlene Silver, recently claimed she was being stalked by a man. She believed the culprit was her husband's obsessed fan who was targeting her to get to him.

Dick Van Dyke tied the knot to Arlene Silver in 2012, three years after the death of his longtime partner, Michelle Triola Marvin. He officially became a centenarian on December 13, a day before the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

Van Dyke's wife opened up about her troubles in a December 16 post on Instagram, telling fans that she no longer felt safe leaving the house because of a man.

“There's someone kind of stalking me around Malibu. And I don't feel comfortable going out, on top of everything else,” she explained, seemingly referencing the deaths of Rob and Michele.

Silver explained that she had to skip her daily yoga session because of the man, whom she suspected to be her husband's obsessed fan. “I go to yoga for my mental health and just to move my body, and there's some guy, just, you know, he's been hanging around all the Dick Van Dyke stuff,” she continued.

Van Dyke's wife noted that she finally confronted the man on December 15 and hoped he would back off, but his reaction wasn't reassuring. She explained that he acted confused when she called him out for following her, which had allegedly been going on for a few months.

Silver noted that she was fed up with the situation because the alleged stalker had ruined the one time she had to herself. She reiterated that her yoga classes helped with her mental health and general well-being, so she did not want to lose the benefits.

On that note, Silver considered getting a bodyguard to accompany her whenever she had yoga classes. However, she did not seem keen on getting security to follow her every time she left the house, but it was a better option than letting Van Dyke be her escort.

According to Silver, her husband had volunteered to follow her to her yoga classes, but she refused because she suspected the obsessed fan wanted to get Van Dyke outside. This wasn't the first time a stalker had taken a roundabout way to get to the TV veteran.

In October 2022, The Los Angeles Times reported that actor Pierce Brosnan had filed a legal complaint against a woman identified as Michelle Welch Mulready for stalking his Malibu home. The alleged stalker had been camped out in her car since September 5.

Brosnan noted that he had called the sheriff’s office twice to deal with the woman to no avail until he was forced to file a restraining order against her on September 28. Thanks to this legal move, Mulready confessed that Brosnan was never her target.

The alleged stalker claimed she was trying to find Van Dyke's home and even had a tattoo of the legendary actor on her arm. However, when she failed to trace Van Dyke's residence, she opted to watch Brosnan, presumably thinking he would lead her to her intended target.

Van Dyke and Silver first met at the SAG Awards in 2006, where the latter had been working as a makeup artist. Van Dyke told PEOPLE that he was drawn to Silver's eyes and fell harder as she helped him overcome the loss of his former partner.

Van Dyke's former lover, Michelle Triola Marvin, died from lung cancer in 2009. Thanks to the support Silver gave him during this challenging period, Van Dyke was able to love again, and they took their relationship to the next level in 2011 when Silver moved in with him in his Malibu home.

They tied the knot a year later in February 2012, despite their 46-year age gap, with Van Dyke's four children warmly welcoming her into the family. Ahead of his 100th birthday, the TV legend credited Silver for his youthful spirit, claiming she kept him happy every day of his life.

Before her December 16 update, Silver had taken to her Instagram page to address the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele. The Blast covered the story, reporting that she was overcome with emotions while recalling her and Van Dyke's reaction to the news.

The double homicide occurred on December 14, a day after Van Dyke marked his 100th birthday. Silver explained that she and her husband couldn't sleep after hearing the news and stayed up all night hoping to learn more about what happened to their years-long friends.

Van Dyke had a deep relationship with the Reiner family, starting with Rob's late father, Carl Reiner, who created “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” Silver noted that she and her husband last spoke to Rob over the phone two weeks ago, while Michele had sent several messages in honor of Van Dyke's birthday.
