Coco Jones is ready for her happy ever after with her NBA fiancé, Donovan Mitchell, but she recently joked that the idea of "forever" is tripping her up. During an interview with PEOPLE, Jones, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel before becoming a bona fide R&B star, got engaged to the Cleveland Cavaliers player in July 2025, and as their special day approaches, the "Headline" singer is thinking about how serious her next chapter is about to get.

Jones and Mitchell excited social media users in the summer of 2025 when they shared images and videos of their heartwarming engagement. In a recent interview, Jones opened up about the moment, calling it "indescribable" before joking about the "real-life, forever commitment" that comes with marriage.

"I think about my life so much like business, and I'm like, 'Girl, you got to stop. This is the biggest contract I've ever signed.' You know what I'm saying? This is a real-life, forever commitment," she said. "I talk about forever, I sing about forever, and then I'm like, 'Oh, this really forever. Okay, word up, word up.'"

Coco Jones Has Enjoyed Seeing Mitchell Up Close And Personal

Jones and Mitchell have both had busy years, with the "Bel Air" actress releasing her debut album and Mitchell dominating his eighth season in the NBA. Both stars have been spotted supporting one another at their events, and according to Jones, seeing Mitchell live in action is a "blessing" she wasn't ready for.

"It's a blessing to have somebody who also gives a lot to their career and to their brand," she said. "Sometimes in friendships, I'd be like, 'I'm so sorry. I just gave all of myself, and I ain't got anything else.' And I feel like sometimes people don't understand that. They're like, 'Girl, what? You're doing your job. I'm doing my job. What are you talking about?'"

Jones added that she and Mitchell both give their all to their careers, and that's one thing that has bonded them in their relationship. "I feel like we speak a different language that makes me really feel seen. And he's my biggest cheerleader, so I feel like I'm never able to doubt myself in his presence. It's just not going down like that," she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jones opened up about wedding planning and admitted that she hasn't found time in her schedule to dedicate to the ceremony just yet. However, to ease people's minds, Jones promised she would reach that step of the process soon. "I'll make that time. Stop playing with me," she said. "That will get done, okay?"

Online, Mitchell gave his followers a behind-the-scenes look at his and Jones' engagement, sharing a stunning image of the two hugging and kissing against a sunset backdrop. Another slide of the carousel featured an overhead video of the moment Mitchell popped the question.

And while the pair gave fans a glimpse of their relationship online, Jones implied there wouldn't be many more of those moments. "If it was up to me, y'all wouldn't know," she said. "But I have to give a little because that ain't right. It's mostly going to be private and intimate, and with a sprinkle of sharing is caring."

Jones Is Nominated For A Grammy

In addition to her wedding, Jones has the 68th Annual Grammy Awards—where her album "Why Not More?" is nominated—to look forward to. The 28-year-old released the project, which included the snappy, soulful hits "Taste," "Here We Go," and "You," in April 2025. It peaked at No. 59 on the Billboard 200 and No. 16 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

In an interview with Ebony Magazine, Jones shared that she has other hopes and dreams for her career, including producing. "I had all that time back in the day; why didn't I learn how to play the piano and produce?"

She added, "I can see myself learning music production. I can see myself in artist development, taking women that I see have that thing, that factor, and really giving them that tough criticism to get them where they need to go."
