Candiace Dillard Bassett Praises Lisa Rinna Despite Porsha Williams' Betrayal Claims

Porsha Williams may have strong feelings about her "Real Housewives" sister, Lisa Rinna, voting her off of Peacock's explosive reality show "The Traitors," but Candiace Dillard Bassett does not feel the same way.
In a new interview, Bassett opened up about her time filming "The Traitors" in Scotland with other reality TV legends and also revealed how her perception of Lisa Rinna changed after getting to know her.
Candiace Dillard Bassett Opens Up About Relationship With Lisa Rinna After Filming 'The Traitors'
Speaking with PEOPLE about season 4 of the treacherous reality competition series, Bassett shed a little light on her relationships with some of the other cast members, including Rinna, who starred on "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" for eight years.
According to Bassett, who rose to fame after appearing on "The Real Housewives of Potomac," she was surprised by how approachable Rinna actually was.
"Before this, I didn’t know Lisa Rinna well. I met her in passing at BravoCon," Bassett said. "People hate her like they hate me. She has the same villain moniker as me, cracking that wine glass on the table [in season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2015]. That was iconic."
Bassett explained that while Rinna had "this villain cloud over her," the "Days of our Lives" alum was a "flower child." She added, "She was always sitting on the floor, stretching. Her energy is so chill."
Lisa Rinna Has Rubbed Fellow 'Real Housewives' Star, Porsha Williams, The Wrong Way
Meanwhile, Williams wasted no time criticizing Rinna for getting her hands dirty in the second episode and breaking the "Real Housewives" bond.
During the intense roundtable discussion, Rinna voted to eliminate the "RHOA" veteran from the game after other cast members incorrectly pegged her as a Traitor.
Williams was bothered by Rinna's decision, stating, "... honestly, the vote that Lisa made for me—it didn't have to happen at all. Again, as a fellow Housewife, she could've stuck to the sisterhood"
She added, "Even if I [were] the Secret Traitor, she still didn't have to vote me out because I was no threat to her. It was all for her benefit of self."

In the premiere episode, host Alan Cumming chose Bassett and Rinna to be the Traitors. During her confessional, Bassett spoke with producers and expressed her excitement about being one of the show's titular characters.
"The game is called The Traitors — it’s not called The Faithfuls," she said. "The game is about main characters, and I am obviously a main character." Rinna expressed a similar sentiment, sharing, "This feels very right."
The two Bravo veterans were joined by "Love Island" star Rob Rausch, who explained why he would make the perfect Traitor. "I've been told that by every girl I’ve ever dated, and I’m extremely competitive. I like to win," he said.
Bassett Reveals What She Wants People To Learn About Her From Watching 'The Traitors'
Elsewhere in Bassett's interview with PEOPLE, the mother of one shared what she hopes fans of the show will learn about her. "I was a villain on the show [as a Traitor], but I really did love almost everyone," she said.
Bassett stated that people are often "dedicated to misunderstanding me" following her six volatile seasons on "RHOP."
"... my hope is that in expanding my reach and being exposed to people from all different microcosms, that people see, 'Oh, she’s not a b-tch.' And maybe just understand that Black women as a whole are not monoliths. We are layered," she said.
Who Else Can Watchers Expect To See On Season 4 Of 'The Traitors'?

In addition to Bassett, Rinna, and Williams, viewers can also expect to see their "Real Housewives" peers, including Dorinda Medley and Caroline Stanbury.
"Big Brother" and "Survivor" legends Ian Terry, Rob Cesternino, Natalie Anderson, Yam Yam Arocho, and Tiffany Mitchell are also part of the fold.
The cast also features stars from "Dancing with the Stars," "Laguna Beach," "Top Chef," and "RuPaul's Drag Race," as well as relatives of athletes and Olympic figures.
New episodes are available to stream on Peacock on Thursdays at 9 PM EST.
